Fake Wemos Lolin ESP32 with OLED
Just a warning: the ESP32 module with OLED screen onboard sold by some Alie×press sellers is a fake. It is not a clone of a Wemos product, but seems to be a clone of that board:
The OLED on that board is configured to I2C and connected SDA to pin5 and SCL to pin 4.
These are not hardware I2C pins on ESP32. The pins 21 and 22 that are hardware I2C pins on the real Lolin32 are not broken out at all.On the ESP32 I2C can be routed to almost any pins using the GPIO mux.
It's not a fake, and it's not a WeMos, it's a D-duino-32.
Everyone can develope and sell devices with ESP8266 and ESP-32 modules,
which are not own developed of WeMos trademark.
However, when you sell them with the WeMos logo printed on them, then that is a fake and you are involved in trademark infringement and fraud.
Also, as far as I can tell, the design files have not been released under an open license (though they are available for download), so unless the author specifically licensed those sellers, they are also involved in copyright infringement, not to mention taking away customers from the original author.
I quite like the style of the OLED board.
They should have just released the board under their own branding and it would have sold.
Rather than try to piggy back on the wemos brand success.
It's not like people wouldn't figure it out.
Fakes with the old style WeMos logo on them:

Pretty much everything you see when you search for "lolin esp32" which isnt sold by the Wemos CC store.
I'm sorry, i was wrong. On this OLED boards there is indeed a WeMos label.
On the first this is not fair, on the second they do advertising to WeMos, on third these boards really work.
Anyway, WeMos should be ashamed that they do not sell such boards
I couldn't understand what was going on with these boards. I am glad this thread has cleared things up.
The concept the original develop came up with is quite good.
I think it would have been even better if the base board and shields used the same pin and physical design as the WEMOS. Then people could use the existing range of shields and other designers might also release shields to suit.
Very disappointing about the use of the WEMOS trademark on the board on AliExpress.
@whatsupskip Hi,today i found a esp32 boards may used the same pin and physical design as the WEMOS d1 mini, so i think i could use my existing range of D1 mini shields with it. See the pinmap of the board, try it?
While the spacing of the pins is similar, the order of the pins is actually completely different, so the shields won't work and may actually release blue smoke, depending on which pins they use.
@deshipu No, wait, the parts marked in white actually seem to be compatible, I take back what I said.
@Joy-Smith Yeah, that's what I meant. I ordered it too, it looks very interesting, thanks for posting it.
